Though this film is a relatively minor one in the massive canon of Peter Sellers, it has moments of absolute hilarity. Written and directed by Blake Edwards, one of Sellers's most fertile collaborators, the film stars Sellers as a would-be actor from India (let them try to get away with that today) who is a walking disaster area. After ruining a day's shooting as an extra on a film, he finds himself unintentionally invited to a big Hollywood party. That's pretty much it as far as plot goes, but Edwards and Sellers know how to milk a simple idea for an unending string of slapstick gags. The result is a film that is episodic and sketchy, but also frequently loony in an inspired way. --Marshall Fine

This is a terrible, terrible movie. It is not funny. It is not clever. It chronicles the absolute low point of Peter Seller's career. It is dog barf.

The Party is a great/classic comedy picture for the whole family. Peter Sellers at his best. This film will bring back memories of the GREAT 1960's - 70's.
Peter Sellers will keep you in stitches as he portrays an Indian/Hindu person, who is naive, well mannered and sometimes aloof. This is a great family comedy picture and I highly recommend it.

This is a truly hysterical movie. It not only looks fabulous because it is very 60's, but it is truly funny, consistently throughout the whole film. I could watch it just to feast my eyes on the beautiful style of the sets, and the fashions. There are so many funny scenes. My favorites {without giving away too much}, are when Sellers loses his shoe at the beginning of the party and what idiotic things happen in chain-reaction from that, and also the dinner scene, when the whole dinner just keeps unraveling into the most absurd problem after ridiculous problem. I nearly died from that dinner scene. Also the drunk waiter was a genius addition and a running joke through the film. This is as funny as the Pink Panther movies, {well some of those were funnier than others}. You will not be disappointed.
